Obesity Increases 91 Percent Higher Risk Of Early Death Study Claims

Obesity Cause Death Risk: Overweight or obesity brings with it many diseases. There are many such diseases, which arise in one’s body due to the effect of obesity. According to a new study, obesity increases the risk of dying from any disease from 22 percent to 91 percent. According to the results of a study published in the journal Popular Studies, people with a high body mass index (BMI) have a higher mortality rate. This result is completely contrary to the results of those studies, which show that the risk of death due to obesity is higher in patients with heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Author Ryan Masters, associate professor of sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder, said, ‘High BMI does not generally increase the risk of mortality, unless your level is very high. He said that BMI is based on body weight and height. Researchers looked at the data of 17,784 people including 4468 deaths.

What does the study say?

They found that a full 20 percent of the healthy weight samples were in the overweight or obese category 10 years ago. On disaggregating the data, it was found that this group had a significantly worse health profile as compared to the category of people whose weight was stable.

The findings confirm that the study has been significantly affected by biases associated with BMI. According to most studies, those falling in the ‘overweight’ category (BMI 25-30) have the lowest mortality rate. Those in the ‘obese’ category (30-35) have little or no risk of mortality compared to those above the ‘healthy’ category (18.5-25).

Those with low BMI have less risk!

Researchers found that people with low BMI (18.5-22.5) had the lowest risk of mortality. Contrary to previous research, this study also found that there was no increase in mortality for the underweight. He said that he hopes that this research will serve to alert scientists while drawing conclusions on the basis of BMI.
